Sign Up Today for Our 05/21 Webinar – The Secret Shame and Stigma of Workplace Violence: Silencing the Voices of Health Care Workers

Webinar Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2024

Join us for a facilitated trauma-informed learning experience and robust, yet gentle and authentic, discussion exploring workplace violence (WPV) in hospitals and health systems, with a particular focus on worker-on-worker violence or lateral violence. The one-time 90 minute virtual training will curate an online safe(r) space to explore the association between lateral violence and violence enacted by health care workers against U.S. cis and trans Black women and femmes living with or without HIV. Using narrative analysis and anonymous online polling, we will explore how power dynamics and differentials in the workplace facilitate violations of quality and safety for BOTH patients and health care workers, particularly structurally marginalized and minoritized communities identifying as cis and trans Black women and femmes.

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define the typology and implications of workplace violence.
  • Describe the limitations in naming and reporting worker-on-worker violence or lateral violence directed towards humanistic and justice-driven health care workers.
  • List opportunities for improving recognition, reporting, and reconciling with lateral violence against humanistic, patient-community focused, and justice-driven health care workers.
