The National Clinician Consultation Center in partnership with the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Bureau of Primary Health Care present this Technical Assistance Office Hour for Health Center clinicians.

Mood and anxiety symptoms place a heavy burden on patients entering into treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD). Medications such as buprenorphine and methadone can improve comorbid
psychiatric pathology but residual and resistant symptoms often persist. First line treatment options are all too often inadequate, leaving clinicians frustrated and patients at high risk for relapse. This webinar will help clinicians working in health centers make these vital medication treatment decisions.

Participants will learn to:

1. Describe the relationship between OUD and comorbid mood and anxiety disorders
2. Identify the available evidence for treatment of depression and anxiety in patients with OUD
3. Design a medication regimen for patients with comorbid OUD and depression or anxiety
   disorders

Speaker Information:

James J. Gasper, PharmD, BCPP is a psychiatric pharmacist who focuses on the treatment of co-occurring disorders. He is a consultant with the National Clinician Consultation Center’s Substance Use Warmline and clinical pharmacist for the Marshall CARES clinic. Dr. Gasper received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Colorado and completed training at the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco.
