World AIDS Day 2014: Working Toward an AIDS-Free Generation
World AIDS Day reminds us all of how far we have come with HIV, and how much farther we have to go. At the Clinician Consultation Center, we have the special opportunity every day of helping to prevent HIV transmission and to improve the care of those with HIV. Nothing could be more rewarding for us. We want to encourage you as clinicians to avail yourselves of our consultation services. We work hard to support you as part of our communal efforts to end HIV in our lifetimes.
As part of UCSF, the AIDS Education and Training Centers of the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the CDC, we wholeheartedly support the 2014 World AIDS Day message: “Focus, Partner, Achieve: An AIDS-free Generation.” Our free clinical consultation services help advance this work by providing expert consultation and education on HIV prevention, testing and treatment, and on the management of potential exposures to HIV both in the workplace and in the community. And you can help us continue to provide this work by getting the message out to your colleagues about our consultation services:
The HIV/AIDS Management Service for advice on HIV testing and treatment
(800) 933-3413
The Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Service for advice on managing potential exposures to HIV
(888) 448-4911
The Perinatal HIV/AIDS Hotline Service, for advice on managing HIV in pregnant women and their infants
(888) 448-8765
The Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Service, for advice on providing PrEP as part of an HIV prevention program
(855) 448-7737
Visit our partners at the AIDS Education and Training Centers for information on free training and continuing education on HIV, AIDS, and related topics. The AETCs comprise four national centers, 11 regional centers, and dozens of local performance sites with a location convenient to you.
Watch Dr. Ron Valdiserri, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health, Infectious Diseases and Director of the Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy at the US Department of Health and Human Services, discuss the importance and relevance of this year’s World AIDS Day theme:
